Þorlákshöfn

Þorlákshöfn, the only active fishing village on the south coast due to its natural harbour. It is also the ferry connection for the Westman Islands. Hendur í Höfn is a coffee shop and glass art gallery offering 4-hour courses in glass art. Some of the furniture is made from recycled palettes, giving the coffee shop its unique ambience.

In Þorlákshöfn you can enjoy a beautiful landscapes with black sand beaches and cliffs. From Þorlákshöfn village you have a sensational panoramic views over most of the South coast, you can see the volcanoes Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull and all the way over to Westman Islands.

Here you can find the best surfing spot in Iceland, we have surfing spots both for beginners and for advanced, the black beach and the spot near the lighthouse. You can go on a ATV tours and take a RIB safari tour with Black Beach Tours. We have one of the most popular coffee house in South located in Þorlákshöfn, Hendur í Höfn Café-Bistro. Hendur í Höfn is also a glass art gallery and offers courses in glass art.

The tourist information center is located in the library in Þorlákshöfn and is open from 12:30 to 17:30 on weekdays.

The campsite in Þorlákshöfn is situated next to the church, behind the swimming pool.
