Welcome to Snorrastofa in Reykholt, West Iceland
Reykholt in West Iceland is a very important historical site, a cultural centre in past and present. One of the most remarkable Icelanders of all time, historian, scholar and chieftain Snorri Sturluson lived in Reykholt from 1206 until his death in 1241. His works; Heimskringla, Edda and Egil’s Saga are very important for the history of Northern Europe and have been translated into many languages. They have become a source of and inspiration to art and literature worldwide through the centuries.
Snorrastofa is a visitor centre dedicated to Snorri. We welcome travellers from around the world, interested in exploring the history and the famous sagas of Iceland. Our guests have the opportunity to visit an exhibition on Snorri’s life, book a guided tour or a lecture by one of our knowledgeable guides and visit our elegant shop with unique arts and crafts from Icelandic artists. We offer an audioguide  in English, Icelandic, German, French, Danish, Norwegian and Polish. You can look for our outdoor guide at App/Play Store, search for “snorri” and install the guide. You can also get help at our tourist information.
