The celebration of “Menningarnótt” takes place annualy in Reykjavík city centre the first Saturday after the actual anniversary of Reykjavík City, 18th August, or on 18th August if that is a Saturday. It's held with participation of many artists, (both groups and individuals), cultural institutions, shops and cafés. The evening ends with a big firework display down by the harbour at 11 PM.
