Elliðárdalur Valley is one of the biggest recreational areas in Reykjavík and a popular destination among the locals. It is a fantastic getaway from the city, within the city. Moreover, it is the perfect place to practice outdoor activities like walking, jogging or biking. It is characterised by its large river, Elliðaá, and the little but beautiful waterfalls you can spot along the way. One more reason to visit this place is that Elliðárdalur is one of the few places where wild rabbits live in Iceland. Be prepared to spot some of them hiding in the forest. While here, you can also visit Árbæjarsafn, an open-air museum. If you got tired of too much walking, then it is time to relax in one of the hot pots of Árbæjarlaug swimming pool.
