Þingholt by Center Hotels is a boutique hotel designed by the Icelandic architect Gulla Jonsdottir. Gulla owns G+ Gulla Jonsdottir Design in Los Angeles. She has taken part in designing several hotels in the United States, such as the Crescent Hotel in Beverly Hills and Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
Located on a charming side street a few footsteps from Reykjavik‘s main shopping street, Laugavegur. Þingholt by Center Hotels offers an ideal location for exploring Reykjavik’s historic center; shops, restaurants, cafés, bars, nightlife, and all the main attractions, all within easy walking distance.
Þingholt offers 52 beautifully decorated rooms, a bar, wellness center, a meeting room and of course, a quality service. Each room at Þingholt includes a mini bar, safety deposit box, hairdryer, flat screen TV, telephone and free wi fi. The interior design is inspired by the Icelandic nature and is a great example of Icelandic contemporary design. When entering the hotel, there is a large black lava textured wall covered in masks made of dark glass, representing the hidden people of Iceland. As a final touch, a small waterfall is trickling down over them.
