Kaffivagninn is Iceland’s oldest restaurant located on the harbor in downtown Reykjavík. Open for breakfast lunch and Dinner.
Kaffivagninn was founded in 1935 by Bjarni Kristjánsson. At that time, it was located at the corner of Pósthússtræti and Tryggvagata, in Reykjavík, but was later moved. Originally Kaffivagninn was placed on the back of a truck parked at Ellingsenplanið. For that reason it was named Kaffivagninn, which translates to “The Coffee Wagon“ in English. Today‘s Kaffivagninn still holds history close to it‘s heart and is located at the harbor, downtown Reykjavík. Kaffivagninn offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee drinks, cakes, and pastries.
